- Convict - TOL: In 1837 Joseph Thurley was granted a Ticket of Leave (37/1536) on the 02 November 1837. The remarks on this ticket stated "Allowed to remain in district of Invermein for 12 months under the service of Mr Buchanan (superintendent of Public Works Newcastle.)
- Convict-Muster: In 1837 Joseph Thurley was in a convict muster listed in a muster listed as "General muster R - Y" (presumably in Invermein) in New South Wales.
